Drumheller continued its northern road trip tonight in Bonnyville as they battled the Pontiacs.
Bonnyville has had some difficulties winning lately as they were coming into tonight's game on a 7 game losing skid. Drumheller was coming off a loss to Ft. McMurray the night before. The last time these two teams met, the Dragons won 2-1 in an exciting game at the Memorial Arena.
Bonnyville got off to a quick start in the first period when Isaac Saniga scored at 3:44 to make it 1-0 Pontiacs. They added another four minutes later when Bobby Young scored from Saniga to make it 2-0 Pontiacs. Drumheller got one back on a great shot by Andrew Kartusch (5th of the year) from Tyler Kreklewich to make it 2-1 Bonnyville. Bonnyville out shot Drumheller 14-12 in the period.
Early in the second, Bonnyville regained the two goal lead when Carson Erhardt scored to make it 3-1 Pontiacs. Drumheller tried to get something started later in the second when Tyson Scott scored from the slot on a reboud for his 4th of the year. Assists went to Jordan Taupert and Brett Edwards. It was 3-2 Bonnyville after 2 with the shots even 21-21.
Bonnyville took control of the game in the third period. The Pontiacs leading scorer Derek Brown scored 1:11 into the period to make it 4-2 Bonnyville. Brayden Goulet added another just over 4 minutes later to make it 5-2 Pontiacs. Drumheller pulled Hunter Virostek for the extra attacker and Bonnyville scored into the empty net with 1:56 remaining with a goal from Lucas Thorne. Final score 6-2 Pontiacs. The Dragons out shot Bonnyville 37-28.
