Drumheller, AB: June 8, 2017. The Drumheller Dragons are pleased to announce the completion of the futures from a transaction finalized on Dec.31, 2016 with the Whitecourt Wolverines. In exchange for 97 forward Evan Tschumi, the Dragons received the playing rights of 97 born defenseman Josh Bishop and now will add 99 forward Dawson Bruneski to complete the trade.
Dawson Bruneski is a right shot 5’10” 180 lb forward from Camrose Alberta. In 56 games played last season Dawson scored 5 goals and added 13 assists for 18 points. Dawson also played in all 20 games in the play-offs helping the Wolverines earn a spot in the Alberta Junior Hockey League Gas Drive Cup Finals. Over two full seasons in the Alberta Junior Hockey League, Bruneski has already played 114 games and earned 29 points and 224 penalty minutes.
Drumheller Dragons Head Coach Kevin Hasselberg had this to say about the addition of Bruneski “Dawson is a welcome addition to our hockey team. He is familiar with returning players on the current Dragons Roster and has earned the respect of his peers already at just 18 years of age. We believe Dawson can be an offensive contributor combined with his efforts to play a 200 foot game. His courage, grittiness, and selfless play will help forge the culture of our team as we head into the 2017/18 season”
The entire Drumheller Dragons organization would like to welcome Dawson and the Bruneski family to the Hockey Club. Dawson and the rest of the Dragons prospects will be showcasing themselves at the Spray Lakes Arena in Cochrane starting Friday June 9th at 7:30 pm.
