The Drumheller Dragons were at home on Tuesday night to take on the Olds Grizzlys.
The Dragons coming off a strong victory in Okotoks on Saturday were looking to add another to the win column. Olds has had a difficult time as of late as they are on an eight game losing streak.
The game started off with both teams having chances but no real flow to the game for either team. Much of the play in the first period was in the neutral zone. Both teams were having a difficult time connecting on passes. The Dragons were the only ones to have a power play in the period but could not capitalize. The period ended at 0 – 0 with the shots on goal even at 8 – 8.

In the second, Drumheller had a stronger start. Brayden Nicholetts scored his fifth of the year from Dawson Bruneski and Joren Patenaude to give Drumheller the 1 – 0 lead. The Dragons took their only penalty of the game when Brett Wieschorster received a two minute minor for slashing. Olds capitalized on the opportunity when Parker Ward scored from Hayden Struik and Jared Bowman to make the score 1 – 1. The Dragons added a late goal when Dawson Bruneski one-timed a pass from Jordan Taupert. Taupert controlled the puck behind the net for an extended amount of time, drawing three Grizzly players before making the play out front to Bruneski. The score after two periods was 2 – 1 in favour of the Dragons. Drumheller out shot Olds 14 – 6 in the period.

The Dragons got an early goal in the third to make it a two goal lead when Markus Boguslavsky scored his twelvth of the season from Tyson Scott. The Grizzlys got one back on a goal that Hunter Virostek would love to have back. Jared Bowman scored from Jared Power to make the score 3 – 2 Dragons. Drumheller continued with pressure in the third but could not get another one past Andrew Henderson.  With just under two minutes left in the game, Olds tried to pull their goaltender but the player coming off the bench played the puck before the goalie was on the bench. Olds received their second penalty in the game for too many men on the ice and that wrapped the hockey game. Drumheller wins 3 – 2. The Dragons out shoot Olds 30 – 25 in the game.
