Dragons Advance To Round 2 After Series Win

Saturday, the Drumheller Dragons faced the Olds Grizzlys in game five of their AJHL South Division playoff series and it was a good one for Dragons fans.

The Olds Grizzlys started every game in this series strong.  In game 5, they would start with the lead on a goal by Dawson Leroux to make it 1-0 Olds at 6:41.  Only 30 seconds later, the Dragons would tie the game on a goal by Brady Risk (3).  Drumheller would take the lead on a goal by Myles Hilman (2) to finish the period leading 1-0.

In the second, the Dragons controlled the play with most of the action happening in the Grizzlys zone.  Myles Hilman (3) would score his second of the game 4:20 into the period.  The Dragons would add another at 11:06 with a power play marker by Kaden Hanas (3).  Kiano Robinson (1) would round out the scoring in the second to make it 5-1 Drumheller.

The Dragons continued to dominate in the third period.  Only 33 seconds in Nickolas de Beurs (1) made it 6-1 in favour of the Dragons.  Just over two and a half minutes later, Kasey Hiemstra (1) scores to make it 7-1 Drumheller. With just over nine minutes left, Eric Martin (3) would finish off the scoring to make the final 8-1. 

With the win, the Dragons win the quarter-final series 4 games to 1 and move on to round two.  Waiting for them in round two is their biggest rival, the Brooks Bandits.  The series will begin on Friday in Brooks with game 1.  Puck drop is at 7:00 with the Pro Plan Financial Pregame Show starting at 6:45 pm on Real Country 910 with Jason Blanke and Dustin Edwards.
