Dragons Come Up Short, Playoff Positioning Tightens

The Drumheller Dragons travelled to Canmore to play the Eagles on family day.
For whatever reason the Dragons of late have been getting off to slow starts as far as getting on the score board first.

The first period saw the Dragons fall behind 3-0 early as the Eagles came out strong and pressured the Dragons into costly mistakes. The first period would end that way as both team headed to their locker rooms.

Second period saw a much different Dragons team and for most of the second they controlled the play but at the end of 2 it would be 4-2 in favor of the Eagles.

Third period the Dragons would get on the Eagles early to get within one but the Eagles tightened up their defence and that is as close as the Dragons would get. The Eagles added an empty net goal and the game would end up 5-3.

Coach Curran had this to say after the game, “The Boys are playing hard but they need to come out at the start of the game as they did in the Second and that's when you will see this small slide end”

It's not certain who the Dragons will play in the first round but it is certain that it will be Olds, or Canmore. Those 2 teams are only 3 points apart and it should make for a very interesting finish to the end of the season.

Both Calgary teams are in a battle for the final playoff spot and as of late it has been the Mustangs who have come back strong and lead the Canucks by 3 points with the Canucks having a game in hand.

Next Home game will be this Friday, February 20th at 7:30 pm.
