The Okotoks Oilers braved the cold and blowing snow yesterday to take on the Dragons at the Memorial Arena. The Dragons got on the scoredboard at 4:45 of the 1st with a goal from Jamieson, assists going to Hendrix and Aasman. The Oilers answered back late in the period at the 17:17 mark to end the 1st period, tied at 1. The Dragons would take a 2 goal lead with goals from affiliate player Brody Valette at 2:14 and a 2nd marker from Jamieson at 14:39. Assists on Valette's goal went to Leth and Kerner, Jamieson's goal had an assist going to Bloom. This would end the 2nd period with a 3-1 Dragons lead. The 3rd period saw the Dragons pull away with a goal from Leth at 3:43, with assists going to Hunter Mills and Kerner. The Oilers would answer back with 2 power play markers at 15:13 and 16:16 to pull within 1 of the Dragons. The Dragons however answered back quickly with a goal from Doane at 16:35, and assists went to Cook and Deagle. The Dragons were not done with the Oilers, they finished the game off with a 6th marker at 19:36 from Vannucci, and assists went to Bloom and Aasman. Beukeboom faced 22 shots, while the Dragons hammered the Oilers with 49 shots.
The Dragons next action is on Saturday, Feb 2 when they travel to Okotoks for a rematch against the Oilers. Action starts at 7pm at the Pason Centennial Arena.
Next home action is Feb 9 when the Grande Prairie Storm are in town, then the following afternoon, Feb 10, the Calgary Mustangs are in town for a 2pm start.
