The Drumheller Dragons headed on the road Saturday night to face off against the Brooks Bandits.

Drumheller was short some players due to injury and only suited up fourteen players for the game tonight. While the Dragons may not have had a full squad, they played as a team with a lot of heart. Coming off a tough loss at home last night against the Bandits, Drumheller was hoping for a different outcome.

Brooks opened up the scoring in the first period at 7:25 when Connor Jean scored from Matt Cassidy and Dennis Cesana. Brooks added to their lead 7 minutes later when Cale List scored from the point shot to make it 2 – 0 Brooks after 1. The Bandits out shot the Dragons 15 – 6.

Drumheller had a better second period. They got their chances but could not solve Mitchel Benson. The only goal in the period was by the Bandits when Simon Boyko scored at the midway mark of the period to make it 3 – 0 Brooks. The Dragons had a 1:40 5 on 3 power play but could not capitalize on their chances. The second ended with the Dragons still down 3 – 0. Brooks out shot Drumheller 16 – 13.

Drumheller had an even better third period. Dane Dow made some key saves to keep his team in the game. Brooks ended up scoring at 9:56 when Connor Jean scored his second of the game to make it 4 – 0 Bandits. Drumheller got one back at 11:43 when Carson Kurylo scored his third of the year from Tyler Kreklewicz and Joren Patenaude to make it 4 – 1 Bandits. Brooks added to their lead on the power play at 15:44 when Brandon Scanlin scored to make it 5 – 1. Drumheller got one back on the 5 on 3 power play with Markus Boguslavsky scoring his 10th of the season from Carson Kurylo and Tyler Kreklewicz to make the final 5 – 2 Brooks
