Game three of the Inter Pipeline AJHL South Division Semi-Final was played last night between the Brooks Bandits and your Drumheller Dragons.
The Dragons trail the Bandits two games to none in the series and would like a win to get back in the series. It just wasn't in the cards tonight.
The Bandits opened the scoring early in the first. P.A. Martineau scored his fourth of the playoffs to give the Bandits the lead 1-0. The second goal scored by the Bandits may happen one out of one hundred times. Nathan Plessis was dumping the puck into the Dragons zone from the red line and threw it on net. It bounced about eight inches off the ice just before getting to the net and beat Hunter Virostek. With that goal, Drumheller was down 2-0 at 3:04 of the first. Drumheller had some opportunities but could not beat Brooks goalie Mitch Benson.
In the second, Drumheller had their chances but could not score. Brooks added to their lead when Jakob LaPointe scored short-handed to make it 3-0 Brooks. The Bandits added another at 16:50 when Conner Jean scored his fourth of the playoffs. Brooks scored another short-handed goal at 17:45 when Arnaud Vachon scored his second of the post season to make it 5-0 Bandits after two periods.
Drumheller got on the board at 7:32 of the third when Markus Boguslavsky scored his second of the playoffs from Carson Kurylo and Tyler Kreklewich. The Bandits would finish off the game with a goal at 14:50 of the third when Louis Jamernik scored his fourth of the post season to make the final 6-1 Brooks.
With the Bandits win, it puts Drumheller in a must win situation tonight or the series is over.
