Dragons earn back-to-back shutouts

The Dragons had a great weekend earning 4 points and improving their record to 10-4-3 with wins over the Old Grizzlies and the Drayton Valley Thunder.

The Dragons began their weekend Thursday in Hanna where they hosted the Olds Grizzlies for their only neutral site game this season. The line of Hunter Mills, Jacob Schofield and Ethan James combined for 6 points on the night with Hunter Mills scoring twice. Connor Duncan also had a great night scoring twice and adding one assist.  Jonny Hogue earned his first shutout of the season making 25 saves as the Dragons were outshot 25-23.

The Dragons then hosted the Drayton Valley Thunder Saturday night back at the Memorial Arena in Drumheller. Again, the line of Hunter Mills, Jacob Schofield and Ethan James were major factors in the game combining for 5 points on the night and 11 points in 2 games. Jonny Hogue raised the bar from the previous game stopping all 30 shots that came his way, including some huge saves on the penalty kill. It was his second shutout in as many games and a total 55 saves.

Hunter Mills opened the scoring early in the first with Jacob Schofield and Mitch Cook  adding to the lead in the second. Ryan Jevne would finish off the scoring with the only goal of the third period.

The Dragons will now head on the road for 4 games beginning this coming weekend.
