Dragons Falter Before Christmas Break – Coach Curran’s Recap

Written by Coach Curran

The Drumheller Dragons had a tough schedule this past week and a half, with four games in five nights and five games in eight nights. It took its toll as the Dragons played Camrose in a home and home series over the weekend and then Canmore at home on Tuesday in the final game before Christmas break.

The Dragons lost all three and, to say the least, it was a poor performance from a team that was playing some great hockey prior to these last three games. It was tough to watch, especially losing at home the way we did. I knew we were going to hit the wall as most of our players played Midget AAA last season, which only has 30 games in an entire season and we've played that many already this year. It's no excuse as everyone else in our league plays the same amount of games, but we are a young team and I think the schedule took it's toll on us.

I told the boys to go home and relax and enjoy their break with family and friends. I'm not worried about this team whatsoever, as I know when they return I believe that they will be much more focused and rested.

I would like to wish all our sponsors, ownership, off ice officials, volunteers, and finally our fans a safe and enjoyable holiday season.
