Dragons Hand Oilers Second Loss of the Season

Dragons Win A Big One In Okotoks

The Dragons headed on the road tonight to Okotoks to take on the Okotoks Oilers. These two teams battled last night and the Dragons came up short 5 – 4. Drumheller wanted retrobution tonight.

The Dragons opened up the scoring very early in the first period when Markus Boguslavsky scored his tenth of the year from Jordan Taupert and Troy Dudley. Okotoks capitalized on the power play later in the period when Carson Beers scored from Kyle Gordon. Drumheller regained the lead with less than 5 minutes left in the period when Nick Sutter scored his first of the year from Brady Risk and Kaden Hanas. Okotoks out shot Drumheller 15 – 10 in the period.

In the second, Drumheller played strong as did Okotoks. Each team had great chances to score. Okotoks thought they had tied the game but there were coincidental penalties called just before the Oilers got the goal. Drumheller had one that may had just crossed the line but the referee and linesmen didn't see it as the puck may had snuck under the Oilers goalie Ben Howard. The period finished the same way it had started with the Dragons leading 2 -1. Okotoks out shot Drumheller 12 – 8 in the period and lead the shots 27 – 18.

The third was a great battle between these two teams. Okotoks had a couple of opportunities to tie the game but Hunter Virostek shut the door. His best save was on a penalty shot by Zane Kindrachuk, who was trying to go five hole but nothing doing. Drumheller had their only power play of the game with just over 3 minutes left in the game. The Dragons had their chances but could not add to their lead. The Oilers had a difficult time pulling their goalie due to the strong forecheck by the Dragons. Shots were even in the period 10 – 10. Okotoks out shot Drumheller in the game 37 – 28. Final score, Dragons 2 Oilers 1. This was only the second loss for the Okotoks Oilers this season.
