Dragons Make Roster Shuffle Ahead Of Roadtrip Weekend

DRUMHELLER, AB- The Drumheller Dragons completed multiple roster moves ahead of a two-game road trip weekend. The Dragons first dealt goaltender Cale Elder (00?) to the Kindersley Klippers (SJHL) for Future Considerations. Elder, who was acquired from Lloydminster earlier this season, suited up in 10 games for the Dragons registering a 4.31 GAA & .856 SV%.

The second move was the addition of 1999 born goaltender Colin Ahern from the Soo Thunderbirds (NOJHL) for a PDF. Ahern, who hails from Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, was in his 2nd season with the Thunderbirds. He bolstered a 24-6 record in 30 regular season games last year and appeared in 15 playoff games, going 9-4-1. Ahern left the Soo Thunderbirds with a career 2.59 GAA and .915 SV%.

The third roster move seen the reassignment of goaltender Brett Balas (2001) to the Dragons from the Spokane Chiefs (WHL). Balas was acquired in a trade with the Calgary Canucks this past October but was recalled by the Chiefs following the trade announcement. Balas started the season with the Prince Albert Raiders and appeared in 32 games with the Calgary Canucks last year.

We would like to thank Cale Elder for his contributions to the Dragons program and welcome the Ahern and Balas families to Drumheller!
