Dragons Playoffs in Review – Coach Oly’s Recap – Round 1, Game 4

Written by Coach Oly

We had Game 4 at the Memorial Arena on Monday night.  The game started with a double 10 minute misconduct penalty to Young and McNeil for game antics before the drop of the puck.  The 1st period started 5/5 and the play went back and forth throughout the period.  Canucks had the man advantage twice in the first period but our Penalty Kill did an excellent job of shutting them down.

We started the 2nd period with no score. A few penalties went back and forth giving both teams the opportunity to score.  Both teams remained strong and neither side would benefit from the man advantage.   We had a 5/3 opportunity and just couldn’t gel. Ultimately, we ended the 2nd period tied at 0-0.  Coby Mack had the only goal of the game with a big shot from the point on the Power Play.  Dragons kept the pressure in the 3rd period but we weren’t able to bury the puck.

The boys worked hard once again but we need to see some smarter plays getting pucks to the net and picking up rebounds in the next game. Judging by the reaction of the crowd, our fans didn’t appreciate some of the diving plays and embellishments throughout the game either. We hope to see less of that on Wednesday in Calgary and would like to see the play direct the flow of the game.  Hope to see another good Dragons crowd out in Calgary for Game 5 on Wednesday!
