Dragons Recap

The Drumheller Dragons are going into Fridays game against the Spruce Grove Saints with 2-1 out of the last 3 home games. 

The Dragons took on the Olds Grizzlys on Wednesday, Oct 17.  This was the 1st home game for the Dragons in just over a month.  The Dragons were glad to be back home and playing in front of their home fans.  The Dragons came out strong and played a very physical game.  There was no scoring in the first.  Dragons Mitch Cook got on the board with a power play marker at 11:21 of the 2nd.  Ryan Bloom knotched a pp goal at 14:41, the Dragons would end the 2nd up 2-0.  The 3rd period saw Colton Vannucci get 2 goals, 1:25 and a pp at 8:25.  Chris Rauckman put the icing on the cake at 14:46 with a pp marker.  Olds was finally able to put one past netminder Adam Beukeboom at 17:28.  Speciality teams was the difference in this game.  The final being 5-1 Dragons.

The Dragons saw the Okotoks Oilers come to town on Friday for the first match up of the season.  There was no scoring in the 1st period.  Chris Rauckman got the Dragons on the board with a power play marker at 3:02.  Mitch Cook buried one at 7:13 to end the 2nd up 2-0.  The 3rd saw speciality teams playing a vital role once again.  Ryan Aasman put the Dragons up 3-0 at 1:10 on the power play.  At 8:05 Colton Vannucci got a power play marker.  Hunter Mills scored at 11:45 to put the Dragons up 5-0.  Vannucci got his 2nd of the night when he put one past Oilers netminder,  Devin Green at 17:04.  The Dragons walked away with a 6-0 win.

Sunday saw the Dragons take on the Canmore Eagles, who were playing their 3rd game in 3 nights.  The Dragons got into penalty trouble during this game and saw the speciality teams for Canmore score on 4 out of the 10 penalties.  Canmore scored at 6:45 of the 1st on the pp.  They quickly got their 2nd at 7:18.  After this goal, Adam Beukeboom was replaced in net with Chris Wray.  The Dragons started the comeback quickly after with a goal from Cavin Leth at 7:26.  The Eagles put 2 more pp goals past Chris Wray at 12:09 and 13:40.  This ended the 1st period with the Dragons down 4-1.  The Dragons inched closer with a goal from Ryan Bloom at 11:11, but the Eagles would not have it.  The Eagles got a pp marker at 18:50 of the 2nd.  There was no scoring in the 3rd.  The Dragons fell to the Eagles 5-2.
