The Drumheller Dragons were on the road on Friday night as they headed to Olds to take on the Olds Grizzlys.

The Grizzlys were on a nine game losing streak heading into action against the Dragons. Their last game was a loss to Drumheller on Tuesday. The Dragons were on a mini two game winning streak of their own.

Drumheller opened up the scoring early in the first when Jordan Taupert scored his 11th of the year from Markus Boguslavsky and Brett Edwards. The Dragons had 3 power play opportunities in a row but could not add to their lead. Olds scored on the final power play when Josh Borynec scored short-handed and unassisted. Drumheller regained their one goal lead with just over 5 minutes left in the period. Markus Boguslavsky scored his 13th of the season from Tyson Scott and Jordan Taupert. The first period ended with the Dragons leading 2 – 1 and out shooting Olds 10 – 6.

Drumheller had their chances in the second but could not solve Andrew Henderson, the Grizzlys goaltender. Olds tied it on the powerplay with 5:05 left when Jared Power scored from Owen Guenter and Josh Borynec. Drumheller again regained their one goal lead just 33 seconds later when Jordan Taupert scored his second of the night, 12th of the year, and 50th of his AJHL career, from Andrew Kartusch and Tyson Scott.  Olds tied it once more again on the power play when Jared Power received a fantastic cross ice pass from Jared Bowman. The score was tied 3 – 3 after two and the Dragons again out shot the Grizzlys 10 – 8.

Early in the third, Olds got their first lead of the night when Jeremy Klessens broke in and scored short side on Dane Dow. Olds added to their lead 5 minutes later when, again on the power play, Parker Ward scored from Quentin Greenwood and Chase Olsen. Drumheller had their chances in the third but could not score. Final score was 5 – 3 Olds with the Dragons out shooting Olds 29 – 26 in the game.
