Dragons Split Weekend to End Regular Season.

The Dragons wrapped their regular season with both and away games this past weekend, both ending in overtime action.

Friday Night: Drumheller @ Canmore

Testing the Water for Playoffs

Drumheller traveled to Canmore to face-off against the Eagles, who will also be there first round playoff opponent, on Friday in a game that would be more of a tune up for the Dragons. Still recovering from   injuries in the last several weeks but the players are returning and it seems the Dragons coach would like to get them into game shape. As for the Eagles they were resting players and did not dress their full lineup.

Dragons would take the game in Overtime 3-2 but there was certainly some tempers flying on the ice which should make this a good series to keep an eye on.

Dragons Coach,” As you could see this was a game that for us it meant getting players back and into game shape. Had we had our full lineup I might have sat some players but overall I was pleased with the effort. Should be an interesting series Canmore is a team with a lot of speed and play their systems well.”

Saturday Night: Dragons vs Kodiaks

Dragons Loose in OT But What a Night

The Dragons final game of the regular season would be a home battle against the Camrose Kodiaks on Saturday night. The game would end in favour of the Kodiaks in OT but over this last little stretch it looked like the Dragons are picking up some momentum as they have gone 5-0-1 in their last six games which could only build their confidence.

Coach Curran,” I thought our effort was great and all the players were working together in the right direction, to build for the playoffs. We may not have won but we played strong in back to back games and my hope is that we are building at the right time.”

This night was also about the big car promotion that the Dragons have had on for a year and the lucky winner was going to drive away in a 2014 fully loaded convertible Camaro.

Ten tickets were drawn in front of one of the biggest crowds of the year and at the end of the game those ten people would get their chance. One by one each person grabbed a key to press the panic button; if the alarmed sounded the car was yours. The suspense built as it would go down to the last 4 ticket winners but as Matt Muzyka stepping in for one of the ticket holders who could not be there he pushed the button and the car was won as the alarm was set off ending a great night filled with good hockey and awesome fans. As the festivities wrapped the Dragon players raised their sticks to say thank you to all in attendance, the night was over and the playoffs are about to begin.
