The Drumheller Dragons won their first game on the road against the much improved Calgary Mustangs.
First period action saw the Mustangs control much of the play with pressure off their fore-check causing turnovers for Drumheller. However the Dragons slow start would come to an end with a goal by Levi Wunder towards the end of the first. Drumheller Dragons would lead 1-0 at they went in to the locker room.

In the second period Drumheller came out with improved effort and their skating legs on. Calgary played just as hard resulting in both teams scoring goals, 3 for the Mustangs and 2 for Drumheller by George King and Connor Boyd. At the end of the second it would be tied 3-3.
Third period would be the Dragons best period of the night with Drumheller scoring 4 goals. The momentum changed when the Mustangs took 2 penalties seconds apart giving the Dragons a 5 on 3 advantage in which they capitalized making it 4-3 with a goal by captain Connor Duncan.The Dragons would continue with their momentum with both Connor Boyd and Ryan Chynoweth scoring goals, making it their second goals of the night. The Mustangs would score again but one goal would not be enough to catch Drumheller. Final score 7-4.
Coach Curran “We came out very slow and I thought the Mustangs controlled much of the first but after that we continued to improve each period. When we finally figure it out and we make simple plays and follow our structure these boys will accomplish their team and personal goals. We are improving and that’s a very good positive.”
Next game will be in the AJHL Showcase in Camrose. Drumheller Dragons vs Whitecourt Wolverines October 1, 2015 at 3:30pm.
