Great Trip To Canmore For the Dragons

Drumheller played their second game of the weekend tonight in Canmore, Drumheller was looking to get their second win of the weekend as well.

Canmore was looking to end their nine game losing streak and put some space between them and the Olds Grizzlys for seventh place in the south.

The Dragons had some great chances in the first period but could not score. Canmore set up a stretch pass from their own zone and found Colton Young for a breakaway. Young scored to make it 1-0 Canmore. The Dragons out shot the Eagles 13-2 in the period but trailed 1-0 after one.

The second was a period the Eagles would like to forget. They received a penalty for slashing three minutes in and the Dragons scored 14 seconds into the power play. Brayden Nicholetts scored his 13th on the season on a beautiful feed from Troy Dudley and Markus Boguslavsky to tie the game at one. Just after the goal, Ty Budai from the Eagles got called for a rough followed by Travis Verveda for a cross check to give the Dragons a two man advantage. Drumheller capitalized early as Tyler Kreklewich scored his 10th of the year from Markus Boguslavsky. Forty-seven seconds later, Andrew Kartusch scored his 11th of the season from Dawson Bruneski to make it 3-1 Drumheller. The Dragons wrapped up the period with a perfect set up from Brett Edwards to Bradley Stonnell and he snapped a shot over Eagles goalie Thomas Davis to make it 4-1 Dragons. The other assist went to Andrew Kartusch.

Drumheller had a strong start to the third with continued pressure in the Canmore zone. The Eagles made it interesting when Colton Young scored his second on a breakaway to make it 4-2 Dragons. Drumheller answered back 1:20 later when Markus Boguslavsky was sent in on a breakaway by Clay Keeley and Tyler Kreklewich to make it 5-2 Drumheller. Canmore fought back scoring with 1:42 left when Connor Lyons scored from Colton Young to make it 5-3 Drumheller. Canmore pulled Thomas Davis with 47 seconds left to go but could not score. Final score 5-3 Dragons with Dane Dow getting the win.
