From the Memorial Arena in Drumheller to the highest levels of collegiate hockey and now an NHL Development Camp, former Drumheller Dragons defenceman Kent Anderson continues to prove that hard work, leadership, and dedication open doors.
Anderson, who suited up for the Dragons from 2019 to 2021, earned an opportunity to showcase his talents at an NHL Development Camp after completing an outstanding career with the University of Denver and beginning his professional journey. His invitation was another milestone in a hockey career built on steady development and perseverance. The 2026 Calgary Flames Development Camp was held July 1–3, 2026, at WinSport in Calgary, Alberta.
During his time in Drumheller, Anderson established himself as one of the AJHL’s premier young defencemen. In 66 games with the Dragons, he recorded 29 points while earning the respect of teammates and coaches with his dependable two-way play and leadership. He was named the team’s Rookie of the Year and Top Defenceman following the 2019-20 season before serving as an Assistant Captain during the shortened 2020-21 campaign.
After his time with the Drumheller Dragons, Kent Anderson joined the University of Denver, where he developed into one of the Pioneers’ most dependable defencemen. During his collegiate career, Anderson helped lead Denver to the 2024 NCAA National Championship and served as team captain during the 2024–25 season. Off the ice, he excelled academically, earning the prestigious NCAA Elite 90 Award, presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average at the NCAA Frozen Four. His success at the University of Denver reflects the same work ethic, leadership, and commitment that made him a standout during his time in Drumheller.
