Johnstone and Cootes Earn Weekly AJHL Awards

Drumheller, AB: The weekly AJHL awards came out today, and on the list was a pair of Dragons! Jase Johnstone took home AJHL Rookie of the Week honours and Sean Cootes earned the AJHL Defensive Player of the Week!

Johnstone, who is in his rookie season with the Dragons, had 6 points in 3 games played during the week. Most notably, he had a 4 goal and 5 point effort in the Dragons big 11-2 win over the Olds Grizzlys on Family Day. He then chipped in with a goal and the shootout winner during the Dragons 4-3 win over the Grande Prairie Storm this past Sunday. This season, Jase currently sits 6th in team scoring with 25 points in 41 games played.

Sean Cootes has continued his dominate season, as he picked up 3 straight wins this week and helped the Dragons to a 7-1-1 record in the month of February. During this week, he posted a .934 save percentage after stopping 85 of 91 shots faced and a 1.92 goals against average. Sean stills remains just one shutout away from breaking the Dragons all-time record.
