Drumheller, AB: When evaluating the Dragons team this season and reflecting on their great start to the 2023-2024 campaign, one of the biggest strengths of the team would be their goaltending. This is in large part to 20-year-old goaltender Jameson Kaine, who was just named the AJHL Defensive Player of the Week after he posted his first shoutout of the season.
Kaine, who is a native of Vancouver, has been on a roll to start the season with a 6-2-0 record, 1.95 GAA, and a .934 SV%. Jameson was acquired by the Dragons at the start of this season after playing last season with the Spruce Grove Saints, where he helped them win the North Division title. Kaine has also been a great veteran leader to his goalie partner Sean Cootes. Cootes is in his rookie season in the AJHL and has a tremendous start as well, posting a 2-1-0 record with a 2.47 GAA and a .927 SV%.
Don’t miss Kaine and Cootes this weekend at the Memorial Arena as we welcome the Grande Prairie Storm on Friday night and then the Lloydminster Bobcats on Saturday night.
