Drumheller, AB: Brady Risk has cemented himself as one of the Dragons all-time greatest players. Risk, who is in his 4th season with the Dragons, captured the Dragons all-time goal scoring record this past weekend against the Bonnyville Pontiacs.
The record, which was sitting at 68 career goals, had been held by long-time Dragons forward Jordan Taupert. Taupert set the record in his 20-year-old season after passing Derek Werenka’s career total of 65.
It was at the 10:16 mark of the 1st period Saturday night when Risk would fire one past Pontiacs goalie Easton Hesse on the powerplay to record goal #69 and take sole possession of the record. Risk would add one more goal in the 2nd period taking his total now to 70! With 11 regular season games remaining, Risk will be looking to increase that record number as he finishes his final AJHL season.
Risk will also be closing in on another long-time record, that for career games played as a Dragon. The record of 229 is currently held by local Dragon Trent Colberg and with Risk currently sitting at 222 games played, he only needs to appear in 8 more to take that record as well. Congratulations Brady!
