Virostek Secures Future with Albertus Magnus

Drumheller, AB – The Drumheller Dragons are very excited to announce the commitment of 20 year-old goaltender Hunter Virostek to Albertus Magnus College in New Haven, Connecticut. The Falcons will debut in the Fall of 2019 in the Division III ranks of NCAA College Hockey.

From Turner Valley, Alberta, Virostek earned a starting position with the Dragons in his first season three years ago. Now, in his final year of Junior hockey, Virostek recently took over top honours with the Dragons by earning most wins by a goaltender setting that record with a 2-0 shutout win against the Drayton Valley Thunder, his 54th win. In three seasons, the 6’1 goaltender has played in 110 regular season games and 13 playoff games. This season he has played 1,258 minutes and holds a 15-win 6-loss record with a 3.10 GAA and .894 SV%.

Albertus Magnus recently named Kyle Wallack as the first Head Coach of the hockey program. Wallack has spent the last 20 seasons as a key recruiter for top Division I programs in the NCAA. The Falcons will play out of the Ralph Walker Arena and the ice hockey focus will be to build a competitive program while emphasizing the student athlete experience in the spirit of NCAA Division III athletics.

On behalf of the Drumheller Dragons Hockey Team, we would like to congratulate Hunter and the Virostek family with the announcement of this commitment. We would also like to extend our appreciation for the commitment, leadership, and dedication to making Dragons hockey exciting for our community.
