The Drumheller Dragons have concluded the 2020-2021 AJHL season to ensure the safety of all players and staff of the AJHL amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The Dragons were unable to be a part of the new cohort”™s released by the league due to continuing to follow protocols and abiding by the returning to play and isolation timelines. We are grateful to have been able to play this season and could not have done so without the work and help from the AJHL and the Government of Alberta.
It has been a challenging year for everyone involved in the Dragons season, as players, staff, billets, and volunteers have constantly adapted and accommodated changing circumstances along with abiding by AHS protocols and the AJHL return to play measures. We are grateful to have such wonderful people in this organization to handle this challenge and we strongly believe we will come out of this pandemic stronger than ever.
Since the season has started, the Dragons organization has made it a focal point to ensure the safety of everyone within the organization as well as the safety of the organizations we play against. We strictly followed the COVID-19 guidelines and protocols in place to constrain the risk of anyone within or outside of our organization from contracting COVID-19. We are grateful and want to thank the rest of the teams in the AJHL for tirelessly working to provide the same safety for the Dragons players and staff.
A special thanks to our amazing billets, sponsors, and volunteers who have stuck by our side through this challenging year! Your continued support has not gone unrecognized and without your support we would not have been able to step foot on the ice this year. We look forward to continuing to work together and cannot wait to be back in a full Memorial Arena when it is safe to do so.
To all the teams playing in this final weekend of the season, Good luck, and we look forward to being back on the ice with you soon!
