Dragons Bounce Back vs. Okotoks – Coach Curran’s Recap

Written by Coach Curran

The Drumheller Dragons hosted the Okotoks Oilers who are a very strong team on Wednesday night and came away with a 5-2 victory.

After a poor performance against the Canucks on Sunday, the Dragons needed to play a 60-minute game, and for the most part they did. It was a very high spirited game.

Dragons goal scorers last night were Tyler Kreklewich, Nate Keeley, Bradley Stonnell, Joren Patenaude and Cody Young. The Dragons played well but it was goalie Hunter Virostek who came up with several key saves while Okotoks was on the power play. Those saves gave the Dragons more confidence and with a 2-1 lead going into the third period we opened it up with 3 goals to take the victory.

There was no question that Hunter came up with some fantastic saves at crucial times and it seemed to elevate the rest of the team. We certainly played a much better game than our previous game which was great to see, but now it's time to put that same effort into Friday's game when we travel to Spruce Grove. If we can get that kind of effort every night we will be a tough team to play.
