Dragons Split Home and Home vs Olds

The Drumheller Dragons played 2 games this weekend vs the Olds Grizzles. The Dragons hosted the Grizzlies on the first night of the home and home series.

With the regular season coming to an end soon and so many teams fighting for position in the standings, it would be the Dragons who would come away with a 3-1 victory.

Both teams came out strong in the first period with several scoring chances for both teams in a very fast and physical first period, but both goaltenders stole the show and the first period would end at zero.

The second period would be much like the first period but the Dragons would get on the board twice and lead 2-0 entering the third.

Olds would get on the board in the third period on a PP and would cut the lead to one. However the Dragons would regain the 2 goal lead and Johnny Hogue held the high powered offence of the Grizzlies
to just one goal.

The Dragons played a very strong and fast paced game and on this night deserved the win.

Olds Takes Game Two

The Olds Grizzlies, back in there building for the second game of the home and home series, came out strong in the first period but the Dragons would go toe to toe in the first.

However, the Grizzlies would strike first to make it 1-0. The Dragons replied in the latter part of the first to tie the game at one a piece.

In the second period Olds came out strong and catch the Dragons on their heels and with several key scoring chances the Grizzlies scored to make it 2-1.The Dragons would fight back and score to tie the game.

In the third period the Grizzlies took control for most of the period and with  some key turnovers, the high scoring Grizzlies would now extend their lead to 2 goals.

As the Grizzlies looked like the game was in their favor, the Dragons scored a PP goal to cut the lead to 1.

However, with 5 minutes remaining, the Dragons would take a 5 minute major and the Grizzlies took advantage and won game two by a score of 5-3.

Next Home game will be Friday, February 6th at 7:30 against the very tough Okotoks Oilers.
