Drumheller, AB: May 5th, 2020- The Drumheller Dragons are excited to announce that 21-year-old forward Derrick Budz has committed to the Aurora University Spartans (NCAA) in Aurora, IL for the fall of 2020. The Spartans play in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association in the NCAA Div.III program. Budz will wear #91 for the Spartans when he takes the ice this fall.
Budz, who captained the club this past season, spent 3 years in the Dragons orange. The native of Yorkton, SK was a fan favourite on and off the ice and was a tremendous leader to his teammates. Derrick played in 160 games with the Dragons and registered 44G-48A-92 pts. He was always a top playoff performer putting up 16 points in 20 AJHL post-season games. Budz will be remembered by Dragons fans for his infectious smile, community involvement, and work ethic.
