Daneault Wins CJHL Rookie of the Year

Drumheller, AB: For the first time in our twenty-two season franchise history, a Dragons player will be taking home a CJHL Award!

This morning, the CJHL announced that 16-year-old rookie forward Easton Daneault has been named the CJHL Rookie of the Year! Daneault, who hails from Red Deer, produced 56 points in 54 games played with the Dragons in his first year of junior hockey. That led all AJHL rookies in scoring and was good for 7th in league scoring. Twice throughout the season, he was named the AJHL Rookie of the Week and at the end of the season took home the AJHL Rookie of the Year Award. His 21 goals and 35 assists were both second among Dragons players this year as he played a crucial role with the club, both offensively and defensively. He also finished second in Dragons franchise history behind Dion Knelsen for most points by a Dragons rookie.

Easton’s accomplishments go well past the stat sheets, as this season he earned a commitment to play NCAA Division I hockey at Merrimack College alongside his brother and former Dragon, Ty Daneault. Easton also signed with the Lethbridge Hurricanes of the Western Hockey League, getting into six regular season games where he recorded one assist. He then joined the Hurricanes for their playoff run as he suited up for eight games and added another two assists as they fell to the Medicine Hat Tigers in the Conference Championship series.

We would like to congratulate Easton on winning this incredible award and for making history with the Dragons!
