Dragons Determine Playoff Foe With Win
The Dragons took to the snowy highway to Calgary to face off against the Canucks. Drumheller won against Calgary the last time the two teams met, 6-5. Would tonight's game have a similar result
The Dragons opened the scoring 5:21 into the first when Slater Dykema scored his fourh of the year from Jordan Taupert and Alex Rotundo. Drumheller added to their lead five minutes later when Brady Risk scored his tenth from Troy Dudley and Brayden Nicholetts. Calgary reduced the lead to one when Cooper Johnson scored with 3:06 left in the period. Drumheller regained the two goal lead just before the buzzer when Markus Boguslavsky scored his 19th from Tyler Kreklewich and Troy Dudley. The Dragons led 3-1 after one.
In the second, Drumheller added another at 4:16 when Brett Edwards scored his 26th of the season and 50th goal of his AJHL career on a beautiful set up by Brady Risk and Bradley Stonnell. Drumheller held on to the 4-1 through the period.
Alex Rotundo scored his 16th of the season early in the third to increase the Dragons lead to 5-1 with assists going to Jordan Taupert and Joshua Laferriere. The Canucks tried to make it interesting when they scored at 6:42 of the period. Michael Clarke scored his 19th to make it 5-2. Both teams had chances in the remainder of the period but the final would end up 5-2 Dragons. With the win, Drumheller now knows who it will face in the playoffs int the first round. Drumheller will battle the Calgary Canucks in round one starting on Thursday in Drumheller at 7:00 PM.
