Dragons Dive Head First into the Community

On Thursday September 7, 2017, the Drumheller Dragons gathered at the Nacmine Outdoor Rink to help with the demolition of the old boards, and the installation of the new ones.

“It was amazing to see when I came around the corner, and they were all here waiting, and willing to work” said organizer Cindy Thomas.

The Dragons Players jumped right into the demolition of the boards, and were excited to be there helping. “I am glad to have the guys out in the community helping with such a great cause. We all have skated on a outdoor rink, and know how much fun it can be.” Says Dragons Head Coach and GM, Kevin Hasselberg.

On September 12, the Dragons went to Greentree School and were giving away tickets to their Home Opening game to all the kids, and later that evening they were back out at the Nacmine Rink helping out again.

On September 13, some of the players went to Manor II to have coffee, play some crib, and a little shuffleboard with the seniors living there. Later on that evening a few more of them were found at the Sports and Recreation Expo at the Badlands Community Facility, getting involved in some of the Netball, and Zumba demonstrations.

On September 14, they were found at St. Anthony’s School, yet again giving away more tickets to their Home Opener on September 15, against the Camrose Kodiaks.

Tyler Kreklewich #10, of the Dragons had this to say about volunteering in the community, “It is unbelievable what can be achieved when you get together as a community. Whenever there is an opportunity to give back, the Dragons are more than willing to help out the community that gives us a hockey team.”

The Dragons are always looking for ways that they can help the community. If you have an event you would like the Dragons to attend, please contact Business Manager Nicky Faye at 403-823-2022, or nicky@drumhellerdragons.ca
