Dragons End Bad Run ?Win on Home Ice

The Drumheller Dragons beat Fort McMurray Oil Barons in overtime last night in front of a home town crowd. A turn the right direction after a rough patch on the road.

In the first period Drumheller scored first with a goal by Matt Muzyka at 12:45.Assists to Ethan James and Ty Mappin. Fort McMurray answered with two goal at 15:39 and 18:21, however Dragons Levi Wunder scored unassisted at 18:40 and tied the game for what promised to be an action packed second period.


The Second period did not see any goals scored although there were several opportunities. The momentum from the first period would continue with a defensive battle throughout the period ensure an exciting third.


Third period action did not disappoint as Drumheller scored a power play goal at 00:56 seconds in by Matt Muzyka, his second goal of the evening. The assist went to Ethan James, his second of the evening as well. The Oil Barons would answer and tie the game at 15:45 on a power play. The period would end at a 3-3 tie bringing the teams to overtime and three on three play.


Isaac Schacher would score the winning goal for the Drumheller Dragons at 00:21 seconds of the overtime. Schacher goal was assistd by Ethan James, making it his thrid assist of the night.


Dragon won 4-3 ending their three game losing streak.

Dragons travel to Calgary tonight to take the the Canucks at 7:00pm.
