Dragons Fall Short on North Trip

The Drumheller Dragons travelled to the North this weekend for a 3 day road trip.  On Friday the Dragons were in Grande Prairie to take on the Storm.  GP opened the scoring at 12:28 with a power play marker from Scott Milnthorp.  The second period saw the Dragons get on the board with a marker from Virtanen at 2:48.  The Dragons went ahead at the 4:49 mark with a power play goal from Dakota Zaharichuk.  The Storm tied the game up at 15:15 with a power play marker from Mike Forsyth.  There was no scoring in the third period forcing the game to OT.  The Storm made it a short lived OT when they scored at 0:24 to get the win.

The Dragons headed to Drayton Valley on Saturday to take on the Thunder.  The Dragons opened the scoring with a goal from Brennan Baxandall at 1:15.  The Thunder answered back with a power play marker at 5:18 from Luke Madill.  The Thunder got the go ahead marker at 19:34 on the power play from Eric Sieben to end the 1st period.  The only scoring in the second period was from the Thunder at 16:55 from Jordan Baillie.  The 3rd period saw the Thunder score at 1:22 from Jordan Baillie.  The Dragons got a power play marker at 13:53 from Stephen Doane.  The Thunder put the game away at 15:56 with a power play marker from Kaiden Tobin. 

Sunday saw the Dragons travel to the newly relocated Whitecourt Wolverines for an afternoon match up.  The Wolverines opened up the scoring at 16:01 with a power play marker from Martieu Guertin.  Ryan Bloom answered back with a power play marker at 19:04 to tie the game at 1 a piece to end the 1st period.  There was no scoring in the 2nd period.  The third saw Whitecourt score at 11:02 from Guertin.  Doane answered back with a pp goal at 16:55.  Whitecourt went ahead at 19:57 from Guertin. Jerome Raymond from Whitecourt put the puck in the empty net to secure the win for Whitecourt.

The Dragons will regroup this week and travel to Brooks on Friday at 7pm to take on the Bandits.  Saturday the Dragons travel North to take on the Camrose Kodiaks at 7:30pm.  Next home action for the Dragons is Wednesday, October 17 when the Olds Grizzlys travel to the valley.
