The Drumheller Dragons are proud to announce the signing of defenseman Jakob Cardinal to their 2016-17 roster. The 17-year-old from Edmonton, AB played last season with the Knights of Columbus Midget AAA Pats, scoring 6 goals and adding 4 assists in 32 games.
Cardinal, who is 6'1″ and 170-lbs, is excited about the move to Drumheller. “I have family that live in Drumheller and they have nothing but good things to say about the town and the people in it,” he said. “I chose Drumheller because I think it is a great opportunity to move onto the next level with a great team.”
Dragons head coach and GM, Brian Curran, is also looking forward to working with Cardinal this season. “Jakob is a very smooth skater, has good vision, moves the puck well and is able to join the rush as a defenseman”, said Curran. “I look forward to helping him achieve his goals this season.”
Dragons fans will get their first glimpse of Cardinal when he laces up for the Dragons' first home exhibition game against Lloydminster on September 9.
