The Drumheller Dragons organization was chosen to host a Casino Fundraiser at the Century Casino in Calgary on October 23 and 24, and preparations have been in the works for months. However, none of that preparation will matter if they can't get enough volunteers to help work the event.
“At this point we still need to fill about 20 positions,” said Dragons Business Manager, Amanda Stahl. “If we don't get enough volunteers, we are in danger of losing our event, and we will not be able to raise any money.”
Stahl said the funds raised will go directly to the Dragons transportation costs, which is usually more than $50,000 per year including busing, hotels and meals for the players while on the road.
“Without this fundraiser, paying for our transportation this year will mean taking a huge hit somewhere else in our budget,” said Stahl. “So it's really important that we are able to go through with this. At this point I'm desperate for help.”
