Dragons Win!

The Drumheller Dragons Come Back in the Third Period to Tie Game Then Win in OT

For the Dragons game 3 was a must win game, and in front of over a thousand fans they didn't disappoint their home town crowd in one of the most entertaining games of the season.

First period action saw the Kodiaks come out strong and certainly had the advantage and if not for Dragons goalie Johnny Hogue it could have been easily 2-0. The first period would end 1-0 for Camrose.

Second period action saw much of the same from the Kodiaks as the Dragons looked tense and just gripping their sticks too tight. The Dragons would tie the game however on the PP but that would not last long as Camrose would respond on their PP to make it 2-1 ending the period.

In the third period something would have to change or the Dragons would be down 3-0 in the series and that would have been tough against any team to come back against. Whatever was said in the dressing room between periods worked as the Dragons found their stride and were playing like the Dragons we know, constantly putting pressure on the Kodiaks and after several solid minutes in the Kodiaks zone it would be a face off won back to Ryan Suchorab that would take a harmless looking shot on net catching the Kodiaks goalie off guard and the game would be tied 2-2.
Kodiaks still had a couple good scoring chances near the end of the period but Hogue would keep the game tied at 2.

OT, with all the momentum favoring the Dragons it wouldn't take long and it would be a mad scramble in front of the net on a shot from Connor Duncan. With sticks and bodies everywhere it would be Keaton Holinaty that would slide the puck past the Kodiaks goalie and the Dragons would get there first win to make the series 2-1 Kodiaks.

Dragons coach had this to say, “I would have liked us to have come out like we did in the third in the first 2 periods but I was proud of the boys never giving up against a very good team in Camrose. The crowd was amazing and certainly made a huge difference to our boys. The Dragons thank all our fans and hope to see them all again tonight.”

Game 4 Tuesday, March 17th at 7:00 pm.
