Sledge Hockey Comes to Drumheller

On Sunday, February 28, a couple of teams from the Calgary Sledge Hockey Association will be coming to the Drumheller Memorial Arena for a sledge hockey demonstration and friendly games against Drumheller minor hockey teams. Local Drumheller couple Gerry and Jacquie Kolm helped to organize the event. Their 13-year-old son, Austin Kolm, plays on the Calgary Venom Junior Sledge Hockey Team, and the family has been commuting to Calgary each week to give Austin the opportunity to play. Their hope is to promote and bring awareness to the sport of sledge hockey in the community of Drumheller.

At 1:30pm, the Calgary Venom Intermediate Team will take on the Drumheller Boston Pizza Bantam Raptors. At 3:15 there will be a sledge hockey demonstration and several of the Drumheller Dragons will be in attendance. Finally, at 4:00pm the Drumheller Fun Team Vortex Junior Thunder will take on the Calgary Venom Junior Team.

Boston Pizza’s Future Prospects is sponsoring the event, and from February 15-28th, $1 from every pop/pizza lunch will be donated to the Calgary Sledge Hockey Association, along with 10% from all bills on February 28th.
