Bandits Score Empty Net Goal to Secure Win

Drumheller made their final regular season trip to Centennial Regional Arena in Brooks to face the Bandits.

The Dragons have not had much luck this season in Brooks dropping both games this year.

Brooks had a strong start in the first period and capitalized on a strange bounce. Will Gerin threw the puck on net and it hit Hunter Virostek's paddle on the ice and bounced over, through the five hole and in the back of the net. It would be the only goal of the period but put Drumheller on their heels trailing 1-0 after the first.

In the second, the Bandits took a two goal lead as Will Garin scored his second of the evening to make it 2-0 Bandits. Drumheller had a strong push back and on the power play, Tyson Scott scored unassisted to get the Dragons within one. Then 1:26 later, a beautiful set up pass by Clay Keeley to Andrew Kartusch (12) to tie the game at two.

It went back and forth in the third as both teams had their chances. Then after the media time out, the faceoff was in the Dragons zone. Brooks wins the faceoff. On a quick pass back from the draw to Nolan Thompson, he shoots and scores to give the Bandits the lead. With just over a minute left, the Dragons pull Hunter Virostek. Deep in his own zone, Arnaud Vachon scored into the empty net to secure the win for the Bandits. Final score is 4-2 Brooks.
