Dragons Fail to Score vs. Mustangs – Coach Curran’s Recap

Written by Coach Curran

The Drumheller Dragons headed to Calgary on Tuesday night to play the Mustangs who have struggled this season and have had a rash of injuries as of late. But the Dragons have always struggled against the Mustangs in their building and we needed to find a way to raise our game. However, we dropped this one 5-3 as we ran into a hot goalie who played one of the best games I've ever seen. Facing over 60 shots, he continued to frustrate us almost every shift as we had over 30 quality scoring chances in the slot.

It was disappointing that we allowed 5 goals against. We threw everything we could at them last night but didn't pay attention on the defensive side. They may have had five good chances all night and they scored on all of them. We pushed so hard to score and just blew our defensive responsibilities and that combined with their hot goaltender was a recipe for our own disaster. But we will lean and move on.

Dragons goal scorers were Chad Hurtubise, Joren Patenaude and Clay Keeley.
