The Dragons home stand continued on Sunday when the Whitecourt Wolverines made their only visit to the Memorial Arena this season.
Drumheller was coming off a solid win on Friday against the Calgary Mustangs. Whitecourt tackled the Brooks Bandits Saturday night and lost 4-2. It was an important game for both teams but one came out stronger than the other.
Drumheller came out on fire as the play was mainly in the Whitecourt zone in the first period. Jordan Taupert opened the scoring at 3:42 when he scored his sixth on the year from Braden Nicholetts and Kaden Hanas. Drumheller continued pressing Whitecourt and were rewarded. Shane Ott scored his sixth of the season from Brady Risk at 10:34. Just over a minute later, Roc Truman scored his sixth of the year from Brady Risk and Aiden Yakimchuk. Drumheller wrapped up the first with a goal with 31.1 seconds left. Wyatt Gelinas, an affiliate player from the Mountainview Colts, scored his first of the season from Hassan Akl and Eric Martin.
Whitecourt came out stronger in the second but could not get anything past Dragons goalie, Hunter Virostek. Each team had two power play opportunities but there was no scoring in the period.
The Wolverines got their only goal of the game 4:29 into the third period as Mackenzie Harden scored to make it 4-1 Dragons. Drumheller controlled the majority of the period and midway through Brady Risk scored his eigth of the season from Brett Edwards and Shane Ott. That line had a solid game and were involved with 3 of the 5 Dragons goals. Drumheller also played well defensively as they only dressed five defensemen.
