Dragons Fall in OT To Kodiaks
Drumheller took to the road tonight to battle the Camrose Kodiaks. The last time these two teams met the game ended in a nine round shoot out. The two teams have went to overtime three times this season already.
In the first ten minutes of the game, the two teams had chances but the Dragons had better scoring chances than the Kodiaks. Camrose opened up the scoring at 14:04 when Ryan Hartman scored on a cross ice set up from Brock Bremer. Drumheller got a power play opportunity right after the goal and Brett Edwards capitalized with his 19th of the year on a nice passing play from Dawson Bruneski and Brady Risk. The period would end tied at one with the Dragons out shooting the Kodiaks 16-11.
The second was similar to the first. Ryan Hartman scored his second of the night for the Kodiaks, on the power play, to give them a 2-1 lead at 4:08 into the period. Drumheller got right back into the game two minutes later when Jordan Taupert scored his 23rd on the year and continued his 6 game point streak. Tyler Kreklewich and Bradley Stonnell assisted on the power play goal. The second would end tied at two.
It was getting physical in the third, as these two teams don't like each other. Nothing on the scoreboard in the period. Drumheller out shot Camrose 35-26 through three. This game would need overtime to solve it.
In OT, Camrose caught Drumheller deep in the offensive zone and capitalized with an odd man rush. Kyler Kupka scored on the two on one 42 seconds into overtime to give the Kodiaks the win.
