Taupert Sets Dragons All-Time Career Goal Scoring Record!

Drumheller, AB– Jordan Taupert has cemented his name in the Dragons record books once again. The 20-year-old forward broke his 3rd team record this season, becoming the team’s all-time leading goal scorer.

The record of 65 career goals as a Dragon was set in 2007 by Derek Werenka and lasted over 700 games. Taupert tied the record of 65 back at the start of January after already becoming the team’s leading point getter (170) and all time assists leader (104).

Saturday night the Dragons were on the road to face the AJHL’s Olds Grizzlys, and entering the game Taupert had 15 goals and 28 assists on the season. In the 2nd period, with a 1-0 lead, Jordan would be on the ice for the powerplay and a chance to break the record. At the 7:35 mark, on a rebound from the Shane Ott shot, Taupert would fire it home to give his team a 2-0 lead and the all-time goal scoring record of 66 as a Dragon! #14 would go on to add an assist in the game for a 2-point performance, on route to a 4-1 Dragons win.

The records will continue to increase for Taupert with 15 regular season games remaining in the 2018/2019 regular season. The Medicine Hat, AB native will play in his 300th AJHL game this Friday at home vs Canmore (279 regular season & 21 playoff games).

The entire Drumheller Dragons organization would like to congratulate Jordan on his record setting season.
